Pennsylvania's Statewide Radio Network Division has partnered with Alcatel-Lucent to create a public safety backbone network based on IP/MPLS and microwave technologies. As a foundation for the statewide radio network used by state and local government agencies, this is now being extended with the middle mile broadband project into rural areas to enhance coverage and provide capacity for service provider broadband service offerings to citizens and businesses in under-served areas.
