ConvergeNET at Internet Telephony Conference & Expo is a live, on-site network serving as the multivendor
interoperability proving ground, showcasing IP telephony standards
compliance. It consists of a network that brings IP telephony
clients, gateways, and gatekeepers together in a proof-of-concept
environment right on the exhibit floor.
Why should I participate in ConvergeNET?
TMCs ConvergeNET allows each exhibitor to connect their products
with the products of other exhibitors to prove that their Internet
telephony products do in fact interoperate. In its continuing effort to
provide EXPO attendees with real-world demonstrations of technologies and
services in action, ConvergeNET is where attendees can truly be educated
about VoIP interoperability not just in theory, but in practice. And
perhaps in a small way, ConvergeNET can speed up reaching the ultimate
goal of real world Internet telephony interoperability. Companies
participating would be able to showcase interoperability among many other
companies and show that they are a pioneering force behind this important
revolution in Internet telephony.
What type of interoperability can be demonstrated?
Interoperability demonstrations that can be represented at ConvergeNET
include but are not limited to direct VoIP calls using the H.323, SIP, or
MGCP protocols, VoIP calls through a gatekeeper, fax over IP, video
conferencing using NetMeeting and/or other applications, SS7 signaling
with a VoIP solution, support for iNow, and Linux interoperability using
the Opensource technique.
What are the technical requirements for ConvergeNET?
The technical requirements depend on what type of interoperability is
being demonstrated. For example, a simple VoIP point-to-point call may not
require that much as compared to a more sophisticated demonstration. Of
course, the more sophisticated a successful demonstration is, the better
it will be received.
When does each company participating in ConvergeNET demonstrate
interoperability?
There will be predetermined times to demonstrate interoperability among
the companies participating. The demonstrations will be during show hours.
The exact times will be determined by agreement with every company
associated with that particular demonstration.
