If one wants to glimpse the future of enterprise communications, look no further than how we use personal devices. As we continue into 2016, the appification of the enterprise will continue apace, as cloud-based unified communications and collaboration (UCC) takes hold.
The unified communications (UC) market is truly evolving, and while many of the developments involve shiny new applications and services, the back end is making tremendous progress as well. The recently announced partnership between hosted UC provider Broadvoice and Metaswitch Networks illustrates the advancements happening on the networking and cloud side, particularly the adoption of network functions virtualization (NFV).
Buyers might actually like the idea that the call is recorded for their own protection in case of a he said/she said scenarios cropping up in the future. In the case of cold calls - perhaps from an outbound contact center - the caveat that the call is being recorded should be built into the script. If your company's legal team is really wary, there are call recording solutions that record only the salesperson's side the call, which is a way to get around the two-party consent rules but still keep a record of the sales person's pitch.
As videoconferencing behemoth Polycom and enterprise tech giant Mitel reportedly pursue a merger, channel partners and industry-watchers are eyeing the deal as an opportunity for the two to architect a brand-new, cutting edge communications company.
At the click of a mouse, the user-friendly interface can provide a bird's-eye view via the summary report, select a specific group of team members and analyze their calls to greater understand staffing and business needs or get as granular as you like with a custom report of your own design. The solution's custom dashboard puts your priority metrics and reports on one screen, and wallboards present the information necessary to provide transparency into operations and fuel data-driven decisions.
While many companies have achieved great success, costs savings and scalability with unified communications solutions, adoption of UC is not universal. In recent years, unified communications have has proven itself to be a strategic and cost-effective solution for companies of all sizes, many managers are still on the fence when it comes to purchasing and implementing UC for their companies, according to a report published late last year by Osterman Research.
