Verint today announced its intention to purchase KANA Software for $514 million in cash.Publicly owned Verint, which is listed on the NASDAQ, offers a variety of solutions – including work force optimization tools, speech and text analytics, voice of the customer solutions, and more – that help businesses get the most out of their customer service staff and more effectively interact with customers.
Why You Need to Know:This deal is important because it represents Verint's second largest acquisition to date, and is yet another recent example of how companies in the customer engagement space are purchasing complementary companies and cloud-based entities to amp up their strategies in this realm.

It would seem that cloud communications and managed services provider Fusion Telecommunications has some pretty ambitious New Year's resolutions for 2014. Today, January 6th, the company announced the completion of its acquisition of Broadvox LLC's cloud services business, thanks to a successful round of financing worth $44 million.
