Vopium Upgrades Mobile Business VoIP App for Android

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

The small business VoIP market is growing rapidly, mainly triggered by the increase in the adoption of unified communications technologies and the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend found in most enterprises.

In October of last year, the IDC revealed that more than 30 percent of small and medium businesses (SMBs) are using some form of VoIP in their business communications. According to the market research agency, VoIP adoption can be accelerated if vendors address the concerns associated with business VoIP services—such as poor call quality and lack of security and reliability.

To accelerate VoIP adoption among smartphone customers, mobile VoIP services provider Vopium (News - Alert) has revamped its flagship application for Android smartphones and tablets. An important enhancement of the new version of this business VoIP calling app is it boasts a streamlined user interface that improves communications and enhances the user experience.

"We know the value of our users in today's highly-competitive mobile calling environment," said Vopium chief technology officer Asad Parvaiz, in a statement. "The addition of more user-centric product interaction recognizes that value by providing them with even more ways to communicate and save money."

To further encourage business VoIP adoption among SMBs, the company has also upgraded the app’s social networking features. Users can earn calling credits through social media sites like Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter and engage in seamless interaction with friends and followers, without worrying about the huge costs associated with international calling.

The new mobile VoIP app for Android (News - Alert) also comes with an innovative feature which allows the app to automatically optimize itself to fit the resolution and screen size of user’s device. To make users communications methods more meaningful, the app also includes a guided tour of Vopium's intelligent analytics of user habits and preferences. These features, along with other calling benefits, are designed to help customers save big on local and international calls.

The business VoIP app is ideal for VoIP customers as it comes with a wizard that gathers call-quality feedback and provides the per-minute rate before each call is placed. The app can also simply update the status of contacts – whether the contact’s phone is connected to GSM, CDMA, or Wi-Fi. If the device is in fact connected to Wi-Fi, users can make free Wi-Fi-to-Wi-Fi calls.

The mobile business VoIP app can be seamlessly integrated with native contacts and dialer. It also works with tablets that support Wi-Fi calling, for example, Motorola (News - Alert) XOOM Wi-Fi.

This new Android business VoIP app is now available in the Android Marketplace.
