Nexus Telecom Selects AudioCodes' VMAS for VoIP Service

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

VoIP Mobile Access Solutions (VMAS) technology has been selected by Nexus Telecom, a Brazilian CLEC and VoIP operator. New mobile SIP applications can be deployed with the support of the VMAS technology. Millions of subscribers inside and outside Brazil will be targeted by this move. A joint announcement in this regard has been made by AudioCodes (News - Alert) and MailVision. AudioCodes is a top provider of VoIP technologies and Voice Network products. SIP Mobile Platforms for Wireless and NGN Service Providers are provided by MailVision (News - Alert).

Nexus Telecom will be able to provide services for its business, residential and roaming subscribers with the VMAS platform and client. Over any WiFi (News - Alert) or 3G data connection, subscribers will now be able to initiate voice calls and send text messages or SMS. This will be done at highly cost-effective rates and in HD VoIP quality through a variety of mobile smart phones. All major SIP Softswitches and Gateways are interoperable with the Mobile SIP Client.

In a press release, Lior Aldema, COO of AudioCodes, said, "We are pleased that Nexus Telecom (News - Alert) Brazil selected the HD VoIP enabled SIP Mobile Client (VMAS) as a new service offering for their subscriber base. This advanced technology will enable the Brazilian CLEC to offer cost-effective rates, and enhanced voice clarity. Nexus Telecom, like many other VoIP operators, will now have the ability to retain the loyalty of their subscribers and win new customers by allowing them to enjoy a continuous 'Single Number' service when at home, 'on-the-go' or in the office."

According to Antonio Moraes, director of Technology for Nexus Telecom, the company finds it important to adopt advanced communications solutions. This will not only benefit the customers but they will also be offered innovative services. The business and residential customers will now be able to make phone calls with WiFi and 3G supported devices cost-effectively with this service.

In a statement, Moraes added, "We searched for a field-proven VoIP solution that would enable us to expand our services in Brazil in a cost-effective manner, without compromising quality of service. The AudioCodes solution satisfies all of our technical requirements and allows us to provide our customers with the highest levels of service."
