TMCnet’s Brendan Read recently interviewed Zeacom CEO Ernie Wallerstein
about trends in the contact center industry and in particular unified communications. In the interview, Wallerstein said the current economic situation is having a “significant effect on the unified communications and contact center marketplace.”
“Providing quantitative ROI for all aspects of any UC offering has become imperative,” Wallerstein said. “To date, ROI for UC has been relatively soft, which needs to change: and change quickly. The pressure on the traditional PBX (News
) vendors like Nortel and Avaya is immense. While these conditions are, generally speaking, slowing down the industry, they are having a converse effect on positioning the application-lead solution vendors, like Zeacom, which are benefiting as enterprises move away from PBX-centric communications solutions.”
Corcoran, Minn.-based Paragon Solutions Group announced its entrance into the telecommunications market
in March. In a release, CEO Maria Vojta said up until recently the company was prevented from entering the market due to a previous agreement “with the buyers of a telecommunications company we previously founded and sold.” That agreement has expired, she said, thus the company is “prepared to offer our customers next-generation technology paired with the experience and dedicated service that make IP communications and Paragon an affordable, intelligent investment for organizations of all sizes."
Zeacom also made news in March when it introduced its new ROI Calculator
for demonstrating the financial benefits of the Zeacom Communications Center (ZCC) software suite. This Web-based tool will be of value to the more than 100 VARs and channel partners selling Zeacom’s call center software solutions worldwide. With the ROI Calculator they can show high level decision makers how Zeacom’s call center software -- offering advanced features such as rich presence, operator console, executive mobile, and executive conferencing -- can reduce operating expenses, increase revenue, boost agent productivity and improve customer service in a short amount of time.
