Harris Stratex, Telsima Partner to Offer WiMAX Products

Harris Stratex Networks, a supplier of advanced wireless transmission solutions, has established a new partnership with Telsima (News - Alert) to provide a full portfolio of WiMAX 802.16e products as part of its new 7000 Series WiMAX platform.

 

Terms of the agreement call on Telsima to provide Harris Stratex (News - Alert) with base station, customer premises equipment (CPE), and management/provisioning systems. The systems feature Wave II-certified multi-sector base stations, high power base station radios and CPE products including outdoor, indoor and PC client adapters.

 

Harald Braun, president and CEO at Harris Stratex, said that after extensive evaluation of WiMAX (News - Alert) equipment vendors, his company selected Telsima because its carrier-class products provide all of the features and technology required to serve the strategy of providing “best of breed” end-to-end solutions.

 

Harris Stratex plans to build and deploy turnkey end-to-end fixed and mobile wireless network solutions. These solutions are expected to deliver data, voice and video services, integrating products such as radio access technology, ASN gateways, CSN and billing platforms, network management and operation software, and video and voice infrastructure.

 

The joint solutions from Harris Stratex and Telsima are expected to enable operators to offer wireless broadband services for internet access. In addition, operators will be able to offer secure intranet access for enterprises and voice over IP and peer-to-peer video services to consumers.

 

Sunnyvale, Calif. based Telsima is a developer and provider of WiMAX based broadband wireless access (BWA) and mobility solutions for media rich applications.

The Harris Stratex mobile WiMAX solution will combine technologies from suppliers to allow operators, service providers and others in the wireless market to deliver wireless broadband for a wide range of applications.

 

Earlier in June, Telsima announced that Neotel (News - Alert), South Africa’s first converged network operator, has chosen the Telsima WiMAX technology for its network deployment.
