Mitel Releases Tele-Call Healthcare Solution

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Mitel has announced the release of its Tele-Call healthcare solution that allows bedside access to hospital services for patients and offers patient information for hospital staff.

The solution works through the hospital’s existing IP network and communications systems to provide healthcare professionals with rapid access to complete and accurate patient information.

Mitel’s (News - Alert) Tele-Call solution use a 17-inch medical-grade touch screen, a flexible arm, and other assorted wall-mounted devices to enable quicker and better decisions for treatment that ultimately improves the quality of patient care.

Accessing up-to-date patient information is now easy for hospital staff that can get up-to-date patient information such as electronic patient records; catering and dietary services; bed status reporting; digital imaging services; patient discharge administration; and medication at the point of care.

The system also provides real-time access to lab test results, transcribed reports, and other relevant information including patient allergies and health issues.

Patients can use the digital and fully interactive IP browser-based system of the Tele-Call solution to access a wide range of voice, video and data, such as IP telephone and entertainment services like IPTV (News - Alert), radio, the Internet and email access, along with movies on demand.

Additionally, a simple-to-use, shared portal delivers educational content like physiotherapy with targeted content such as surveys, virtual tours, online gift shops, and hospital web pages.

Mitel’s next phase of the Tele-Call solution will reportedly provide closed-loop medication management, clinical documentation, integrated nurse-call, and other applications.

Mitel recently partnered with BorderWare Technologies Inc. to launch a combined solution based on BorderWare’s SIPassure VoIP security and Mitel’s 3600 Hosted Key System.

The combination of robust technologies from both companies delivered the new Mitel 3600 Security Gateway (News - Alert) that enables secure, low-cost delivery of business quality VoIP services over public IP networks.
