PIKA Technologies' WARP Appliance Garners Strong Sales, Rave ReviewsBy Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributing Editor PIKA Technologies (News - Alert) is witnessing widespread adoption of its WARP appliance, which was launched in June. The product is attracting string endorsements from customers serving a number of end-user verticals.
PIKA Technologies provides developers with the tools required to build advanced voice and fax applications like IP PBX (News - Alert), fax broadcast and self service IVR. PIKA is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada.
“The market’s response demonstrates the importance of PIKA’s ongoing commitment to being and active and engaged participant in the development community that is responsive to the needs of its customers,” said Terry Atwood, vice president of sales at PIKA.
The PIKA WARP appliance was created for companies that build Linux-based custom IP–PBXs and other telecommunication solutions such as interactive voice response (IVR) products, dialers and logging systems. The appliance uses both proprietary and open source software, and is ideal for small and medium enterprises due to its compact size and cost effective pricing.
Adopters of the WARP appliance range from energy, defense, construction, pharmaceutical, telecommunication as well as general business and office environments. PIKA WARP the Appliance provides an embedded processor and a cheaper, more reliable and more compact alternative to off-the-shelf computers with plug-in voice cards for voice application deployment.
In the case of Scientific Retail Systems, the open source feature of the WARP appliance made it the right choice for that company’s PKon IVR system. Scientific Retail Systems deals in pharmacy management software and systems intended to streamline business processes. These systems are tailor-made for the pharmacy environment where the timely and secure exchange of accurate patient information is all important. The PKon system includes solutions to integrate and manage each and every aspect of the operation. This includes prescriptions, inventory control, tracking, reporting, insurance billing and financial controls.
“When we set out to develop an IVR system for our customers based on open standards, the PIKA WARP appliance provided the functionality and compatibility with the Asterisk (News - Alert) development platform we required,” said Mark Mance, operations administrator at Scientific Retail Systems, in a statement. “It has allowed us to provide the kind of tailored solution needed to deliver efficient and reliable patient care in the pharmaceutical industry.”
