Cbeyond Experts to Present SIPconnect Sessions at ITEXPO East 2008
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Cbeyond, an IP-based managed services provider to small businesses, has announced today that Chris Gatch, chief technology officer of Cbeyond, and Greg Rothman ( News - Alert), director of SIPconnect development, will present four sessions designed to educate attendees on SIPconnect at Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC ( News - Alert)) INTERENT TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO East.
Held January 23-25, 2008, at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida, TMC's INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference and EXPO is an educational program designed to teach enterprises, small businesses and government agencies how to select and deploy IP-based services.
Gatch and Rothman plan to share their combined knowledge and insights on session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking, also known as SIPconnect. This industry-standard signaling protocol is used to establish end-to-end IP communication sessions between service providers and enterprises.
An initiative of the SIP Forum and a certification mark of the organization, SIPconnect provides detailed instructions and architecture specifications to deliver direct SIP connectivity between businesses with IP PBXs and VoIP service providers. This connectivity ensures consistent quality-of-service, low cost and full-featured SIP-based VoIP telephony.
"The rapid adoption of SIPconnect makes a true understanding of the standard vital to resellers and corporate IT managers serious about using IP-based services," said Gatch, in a Wednesday statement.
"The implementation of SIP Trunking via the SIPconnect specification benefits many participants in the delivery of voice communications and reduces telephony costs, but businesses and end users derive the greatest benefits."
Gatch plans to present at the SIP Forum’s ( News - Alert) SIPconnect Compliance Workshop on January 25 and will provide a SIPconnect Compliance Process Overview and the SIPconnect Recommendation Deep Five. This will include a review of the SIPconnect Technical Recommendation and a review of the latest SIPconnect Compliance survey results.
For his part, Rothman will lead a one-hour “SIP Trunking” accreditation session on January 23 in partnership with TMC University. Rothman will also participate in two panel discussions:
SIP Trunking - The Service Provider Perspective, Jan. 23
SIP Trunking for the SMB, Jan. 24
The INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO connects corporate managers, resellers, IT/telecom management and development with service providers, small business technology and corporate management, and developers. More information on the event can be found at www.itexpo.com.
With their contributions, Gatch and Rothman will be providing significant knowledge and insight into SIP trunking and what it means for the enterprise and service providers alike. This technology provides a world of benefits, yet many fail to completely understand the technology and how it applies in their environment.
These planned sessions will open up the world of SIP trunking for those seeking to increase their knowledge and understand how to investigate SIP solutions.
