Red Wing Shoe Company Deploys NET's VX Series as Its Strategic VoIP Solution

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Network Equipment Technologies, a provider of network and VoIP solutions to enterprises and government agencies and Convergent, a Minnesota-based technology solution provider, have announced that Red Wing Shoe Company has installed NET's (News - Alert) VX Series as its strategic VoIP solution.

NET and Convergent set up the VX Series platform as an integration point into the Red Wing's current Avaya PBX with Microsoft (News - Alert) OCS, featuring telephony and VoIP capabilities. Red Wing's headquarters facility and their branch stores will also be able to migrate to full Microsoft Enterprise voice services using the system.

According to NET, the Voice Exchange (VX) Series is the first fully-integrated multi-service voice switch with Any-to-Any gateway functionality, creating a next-generation solution for enterprise VoIP enablement.

The solutions' conformance to the latest VoIP signaling and call control standards, such as SIP and H.323, guarantees interoperability within multivendor VoIP deployments.

NET officials have claimed that the VX Series is the clear choice for large corporations looking to obtain the benefits of VoIP through a versatile, integrated voice exchange solution that provides interoperability with existing PBX (News - Alert) and IP PBX systems.

'We brought NET into the relationship for two reasons, their product is the best available and the company is committed to outstanding service and support,' said Khai Tran, CEO of Convergent. 'This made the difference in solidifying NET's role in a full-circle partnership with the customer.'

Convergent officials claimed that the company made a strategic investment in a talented staff including those with experience in legacy telephone systems along with experts in telephony and infrastructure.

Many clients, like Red Wing, need to bridge legacy systems with new technology and they chose NET's products because of their ability to interface with an Avaya (News - Alert) PBX, Microsoft OCS and Active Directory. Also, they needed a solution with robust security, ease of management and differentiated call processing capabilities.
