Great Lakes Data Systems (GLDS) provides customer management, billing and workforce management solutions to telecom service providers. The company claims to have more than 44 operators in 44 countries as its customers.

The latest broadband service provider customers to join GLDS clientele are Click! Network and BCI Broadband.

Both Click! Network and BCI Broadband have selected GLDS WinCable subscriber management and billing system, its SuperController provisioning platform, its WinForce tech mobile workforce management platform and several other solutions as part of their plans to improve overall efficiency of their operations.

WinCable, according to GLDS, offers greater operational control and is less restrictive than other systems available. It is offered at a price up to 80 percent less than competing platforms.

SuperController provisioning platform allows service providers to add complete control of voice, video and data service delivery to the WinCable billing and subscriber management system. It acts like an interpreter taking commands from WinCable and translating them to something a third-party vendor can use to activate, deactivate or change services.

GLDS’ WinForce workforce management platform provides field technicians with instant access to work and customer-related details eliminating calls to dispatch and empowering technicians to solve problems independently.  The platform consists of two products, WinForce tech and WinForce gateway.

Tacoma Power's Click! Network is one of the nation's largest municipally owned telecommunications systems. The company switched its telecom subscriber management platform from CSG Systems (News - Alert) to GLDS earlier this year.

"We have used and have researched several billing and subscriber management platforms and found that GLDS offered the most complete solution available for the money," said Tenzin Gyaltsen, general manager, Click! Network, in a statement.

Click! Network was impressed with GLDS' ability to analyze a fairly complex project and provide solutions that meet the growing needs of the operators in a cost effective manner, according to Gyaltsen.
