A London-based developer of VoIP platform solutions has announced the company’s SIP client for Blackberry received a “Best of Show Award” in the providers solutions category at TMC’s (News - Alert) ITEXPO East 2010.
According to officials with Voiceserve subsidiary, VoIPSwitch, the company’s Vippie SIP client for Blackberry allows users to make and receive phone calls over a data connection like WiFi (News - Alert), 3G or EDGE, and can work with their own VoIPSwitch platform or any other third party SIP-compliant platforms.
The software, which is offered to VoIP providers, is the only SIP client currently available for Blackberry phones, company officials said.
“Last week in Miami we set new standards at ITEXPO (News - Alert) in terms of attendee traffic, exhibitor news, and overall quality for the show, and we feel the best-of-show winners worked even harder to stand out from our field of exhibitors,” said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO and group editor-in-chief of TMC.
“All of the companies that participated in ITEXPO helped to make it our best show ever, and we’re proud to honor companies like Voiceserve VoIPSwitch with a Best-of-Show Award.”
In addition to exhibiting their offerings, VoIPSwitch’s Chief Technology Officer, Chris Oglaza, attended ITEXPO and participated in a session titled, “Mobile VoIP, Imagine the Possibilities,” which highlighted the new set of requirements that emerge when VoIP functionality is implemented on mobile devices and networks, and how optimal voice quality can be achieved.
The next step for VoIPSwitch, according to company officials, is to evolve toward more sophisticated VoIP services as well as video, presence, and more.
