Tektronix Grows VoIP Test Solutions Portfolio

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Senior Editor

Tektronix (News - Alert), a company that specializes in VoIP test solutions and network monitoring tools, on Monday issued two announcements detailing expansion of its testing portfolio. The company introduced two new real-time digital serial analyzers (DSAs) and probe product lines, and a network monitoring software solution dubbed TrendNavigate.

Tektronix’s new DSA7000 DSA and P7500 probe product lines both deliver what the company claims is the faster performance available in the world for next-generation, high-speed serial data applications like PCI-Express 2.0, HDMI 1.3, and SATA III.

The new products are part of Tekrtonix’s ongoing expansion of the company’s testing and monitoring tools designed for engineers working with high-speed serial data technologies. The DSAs and probes join the company’s recently launched DSA8200 oscilloscopes and AWG7000 signal generators.

“We are committed to providing our customers the very best tools to aid their design validation, troubleshooting, and standards compliance requirements,” the company’s chairman and CEO, Rick Wills, noted in a statement.

Martyn Etherington, vice president of Tektronix’s instruments business, added that second and third generation data technologies, which now underpin the fastest product designs on the market, provide much greater data throughput than was possible only a few years ago.

“With the new DSA70000 Series real-time oscilloscopes, DSA8200 sampling oscilloscopes, AWG7000 arbitrary waveform generators, and P7500 series probes, engineers have access to an entirely new portfolio with the industry-best capabilities needed to develop next generation products incorporating high-speed serial data technologies,” Etherington said in a statement.

Also on Monday, Tektronix announced the launch of its new TrendNavigate software application, which helps reduce lost revenues by enabling operators to quickly diagnose and resolve service degradation problems.

TrendNavigate, Tektronix explained in its announcement, complements the company’s network and service analyzer (NSA) solution for UTRAN, part of a suite that helps network operators step up troubleshooting and optimize performance.

“Optimizing 3G networks is critical to the business of today's network operators,” commented Tektronix’s Vice President of Network Diagnostics, Arif Kareem, in a statement. “This gives network operators a competitive edge in rolling out new services with quality and experience expected by their end users.”

Kareem added that TrendNavigate builds upon Tektronix’s established commitement to helping customers get the most out of their network investments by seamlessly drilling down to individual call levels.

“This ensures that service providers can improve their margins, while being focused on driving quality that is aligned with their own subscriber expectations and on deploying new technology without quality degradation,” Kareem explained.
