Netcordia's NetMRI IP Net Test Tool Now Avaya-Compliant

By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Netcordia announced on Tuesday that its network analysis tool, the NetMRI has just been rated “Avaya (News - Alert)-Compliant.” The move will make the system compatible with the main IP telephony solutions from Avaya. The NetMRI set of diagnostic tools analyzes wireless, VPN, VLAN, IP and VoIP problems.

NetMRI is now compatible with the Avaya Communication Manager 3.1.2 IP telephony software. Specifically, NetMRI collects and analyzes Call Detail Records from Avaya's software daily. The info retrieved from this activity provides network managers with a general idea of the voice traffic's travel throughout the network to aid in troubleshooting problems.

“Certification gives Avaya users the highest level of assurance that NetMRI integrates seamlessly with Avaya software to provide a complete systems-level view,” said Netcordia’s (News - Alert) founder and CTO Terry Slattery in a statement. “VoIP traffic transits the entire infrastructure of routers, switches, IP telephony servers, IP phones and circuits. Having proactive visibility into service quality with understandable, useful and actionable information is critical for superior management of VoIP services.”

Netcordia also joined the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program. The program serves as a platform for companies wanting to join Avaya to develop, market and sell third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology. As a member of the program, Netcordia will be eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab located in Lincroft, New Jersey.

“By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Netcordia who are members of our DeveloperConnection program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,” noted Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. “They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available, getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line.”

Netcordia follows the footsteps of VoIP management systems provider Viola Networks (News - Alert). Viola announced just last month that its integrated VoIP assessment and monitoring suite, the NetAlly Lifecycle Manager, has also been rated compliant with key IP telephony systems from Avaya.

The NetAlly Lifecycle Manager allows businesses to benefit from shorter deployment cycles, speedier troubleshooting and the ability to ensure predictable and reliable network performance levels. The application has now been compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Communications Manager 3.1.2, an IP telephony application.
