Automated network test systems provider Minacom announced today that its PowerProbe solutions now support triple play validation.
The new functionality is achieved by using DOCSIS power supply transponder from AM Networks as remote test probes.
In a press release, Minacom said that, thanks to the enhancement, its PowerProbe 6000 and PowerProbe 500 platforms now can “perform non-intrusive Real-time Transfer Protocol (RTP) / IP loopback tests to troubleshoot and validate the quality of VoIP, digital TV, video-on-demand (VoD), Internet and Fax-over-IP services.”
Also, Minacom’s DirectReach cable transponder test agent can query AM Networks’ transponders to retrieve performance and reliability data.
Data sets now being collected from AM Networks transponders include:
-
Logged alarms
-
Power supply battery and inverter voltage/current
-
Operating temperatures
-
Upstream packet loss rate
-
Upstream/downstream RF frequencies and power levels
-
Modulation
-
Bandwidth
-
Pre/post FEC error rates
-
Downstream signal-to-noise and modulation error ratios (SNR/MER)
“By integrating widely-deployed AM Networks transponders with the DirectQuality R7 service level test platform used by Tier-1 cable operators worldwide, customers benefit by having immediate test access throughout the HFC, without having to deploy new equipment or test probes,” Micacom’s CEO, Michel Nadeau, commented in the press release
AM Networks’ General Manager, Bret Matz, added: “Partnering with other industry leaders like Minacom allows us to leverage our unique position in the HFC infrastructure, bringing added value to AM’s customers.
Anyone interested in learning more about the new features of Minacom’s test solutions is encouraged to visit SCTE CableTec EXPO (June 20-23, 2006, in Denvor CO).
At the show, a live demonstration of remote testing from the DirectQuality R7 platform to AM Networks’ transponders will be conducted.
AM Networks and Minacom will both have booths at the show: #1054 (AM Networks) and #1931 (Minacom).
