Podcast Highlights VoIP Termination Benefits

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

VoIP termination services, which make it easier and more affordable to communicate, play an especially important role in today's businesses environment.

Endstream Communications (News - Alert) is a next-generation carrier offering VoIP and telecommunications solutions for the wholesale, enterprise and middle markets.

I had a chance recently to chat with CEO Erik Levitt about VoIP termination and the benefits it provides for businesses and service providers.

Levitt said not only are business VoIP customers looking at lower rates due to regulatory considerations and because VoIP infrastructure is less expensive for carrier to maintain, but also, benefits like improved call quality can be achieved.

"A good quality VoIP call can be as good or better than a traditional analog call and sometimes better than even a digital call," Levitt said.

To further explain the benefits, Levitt used the example of a New York, California or U.K. DID located on the same SIP trunk as one in Chicago.

"Because of the nature of IP networks, it's easier to centralize the PBX (News - Alert) across an enterprise and even centralize inbound trunks from carriers," Levitt said.

When it comes to the service provider side, there are also benefits to choosing VoIP termination services, Levitt explained.

"Many of the larger service providers already use VoIP extensively inside their infrastructure because it reduces their overhead versus maintaining a large scale TDM network," Levitt said.

"In general, the equipment is easier to maintain and if properly deployed, can deliver the same or greater reliability than a traditional TDM network."
