Kentrox Offers VoIP QoS Whitepapers to Support Third-Party Integration

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Kentrox’s VoIP Quality of Service channel stresses the importance of optimizing your voice and data network using tools that can prioritize sensitive voice traffic, ensuring that call quality is clear and connections are reliable.

Although Kentrox offers a complete line of VoIP QoS products, the company does recognize that you may be using related equipment or software from other vendors. In order to facilitate interoperability with third parties, Kentrox offers several whitepapers designed to get you up and running quickly and easily.

These whitepapers, described below, specifically address third-party solutions from Avaya, Multi-Tech, Quintum, and ShoreTel.

1. In “How To Set Up a Q-Series Router for VoIP Using Avaya IP Office,” Kentrox explains how to set up a simple VoIP connection using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) between two offices.

“Kentrox Q-Series QoS Access Routers and Avaya (News - Alert) IP Office communication solutions work together to securely connect digital and analog phones over the Internet,” the whitepaper explains, adding that set-up is made particularly easy by graphical user interfaces in both products.

2. In “How to Set Up Q-Series Routers for VoIP using Multi-Tech MVP210 Gateways,” Kentrox explains a similar process for installing a secure VPN using a Q-Series router and a MVP210 gateway.

A related whitepaper, “Kentrox & Multi-Tech, Optimizing VoIP Call Quality,” notes that combining routers from Kentrox and gateways from Multi-Tech results in a solution providing consistent VoIP quality, reduced telephony expenses, and improved application performance without the need to add more bandwidth.

3. A similar set of whitepapers, “Experience Quality VoIP Calls with Q-Series Routers and ShoreTel IP Phone Systems,” and “How to Set Up Q-Series Routers for VoIP using ShoreTel Phone Systems” explain the benefits of using Kentrox and ShoreTel products to ensure VoIP quality of service.

4. Finally a whitepaper titled, “Assure VoIP Call Quality with Q-Series Routers and Quintum Tenor Switches,” explains why combining products from Kentrox and Quintum (News - Alert) is a more cost-effective solution for small businesses than purchasing a separate WAN link dedicated to VoIP traffic.

A dedicated WAN link, the whitepaper explains, “negates much of the cost savings normally gained by adopting VoIP. A better choice is to purchase a combined solution that assures Quality of Service (QoS) for VoIP calls."
