High-speed network access equipment manufacturer Kentrox recently introduced a new cell site aggregation product, CrossPATH 4.
The CrossPATH 4
The device “enables wireless carriers to aggregate and manage today’s existing networks while providing migration options to future packet-based technologies,” Kentrox said in a press release.
The CrossPATH 4 product page on kentrox.com explains that the new product “enables wireless providers to lower the cost of ownership, simplify the migration to IP or ATM networks, and easily manage its cell sites (remotely or onsite).”
The main features of CrossPATH 4 are:
-
16 T1s with integrated CSUs
-
Small 1RU package
-
Web GUI for easy installation
-
Enhanced remote management
-
Powerful network diagnostics
-
DS0 cross connect functionality
-
IP and ATM migration options (NxT1, T3, OC3, Ethernet)
CrossPATH 4 also includes an integrated Quality of Service (QoS) router capable of prioritizing IP traffic from radios, e911 (News - Alert), VoIP, and video equipment with Ethernet interfaces.
According to CrossPATH 4’s product brochure, the integrated QoS router means onsite technicians “can connect their laptop computer into an Ethernet port and access the corporate network to check e-mail, view provisioning records, or close trouble
tickets.”
Kentrox’s Vice President of Marketing, Dan Murray, commented that, “In addition to improving efficiency of today's radio access network, CrossPATH enables carriers to easily migrate to IP and ATM packet backhaul when the time is right.”
