Grandstream, a UC solutions provider, recently announced that it has teamed up with GENBAND (News - Alert), a provider of real time communications software solutions. Thanks to this new pairing, Grandstream’s VoIP solutions are now certified with GENBAND’s Application Server.

According to the announcement, the Grandstream products that have been tested and certified include the GXP series of IP phones; the GXV series of IP Video Phones for Android (News - Alert); the DP series of DECT cordless IP phones; the HT series of Analog Telephone Adapters (ATAs); and the GXW series of VoIP gateways. The statement from the companies continues, “The testing process included GENBAND´s Session Border Controller to secure the sessions and anchor media. As a result of the solution-wide testing, the Grandstream devices are now also certified with GENBAND´s Session Border Controller.”

This certification essentially means that any service provider or enterprise can use GENBAND’s Application Server to deploy Grandstream’s VoIP solutions. The combination of the two should allow service providers and enterprises with a cost-effective VoIP option that can easily integrate video, data and mobility capabilities.

What’s particularly interesting about this certification is that it involves the GXW series of VoIP gateways. VoIP gateways are an up and coming technology that is set to transform the communications space. They act as a bridge between a company’s old technology and the new, allowing organizations to upgrade their telephony solutions without having to completely replace all of their systems and break the bank.

VoIP gateways are also known for promoting the mobile workforce. VoIP in general enables workers to stay connected while on the go, no matter where they are or what device they’re using. Bringing VoIP gateways together with GENBAND’s real time solutions will only serve to better improve the mobile experience for telecommuters and businesspeople that are always traveling.

Grandstream and GENBAND aren’t the only ones looking to empower companies with better tech, though. Other companies, such as beroNet, have also fully embraced VoIP gateways. With more and more companies hopping on the bandwagon, we’re sure to see some great new advancements coming to this tech soon.
