Phybridge VoIP Enabler Helps Comstor Eliminate Deployment Barriers - Stalled Cisco IP Telephony Proceeds Successfully

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Ontario, Canada-based Phybridge Inc., a provider of risk-free IP telephony infrastructure, provides organizations with an easier way to deploy and manage their communications.

In May 2009, the “UniPhyer,” a plug-and-play appliance that that lets companies deploy VoIP quickly, easily and more affordably using their existing telephone cabling, was made generally available.

The advantages provided by this VoIP enabler product were recently recognized by Singapore-based Comstor, a Westcon Group (News - Alert) company, to help remove barriers keeping the business from realizing the advantages of Unified communications at their operations.

Eliminating risks and reducing costs is especially important in today’s market as businesses move to new strategic initiatives. For many companies the possible risks and costs associated with converging voice into data networks can outweigh the benefits of UC.

Hindering Comstor’s move to IP telephony before working with Phybridge (News - Alert) was the need to revamp their wireless network to support voice/data and relaying data cable, which they worried could affect renovation, reduce productivity levels and increase costs and downtime.

“Today, many of the barriers and challenges to deploying IP telephony and Unified Communications (News - Alert) is the unknowns around network readiness and the complexity of voice and data sharing the same physical path on a network,” said Steven Fair, SVP of Phybridge.

According to officials with Phybridge, “UniPhyer leverages the existing telephony infrastructure to create a completely independent power over Ethernet (PoE), Quality of Service enabled parallel network for voice with reach of over 1,200 ft.”

The Comstor deployment was quick and easy with no network or business disruptions and according to Michael Long, Solution Sales Manager for Comstor, the company’s partial conversion of digital phones to Cisco (News - Alert) IP phones “is really a plug and play experience,” Long said.
