Aculab Enhances ApplianX IP Gateway for Better PBX Interoperability

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Aculab, a provider of enabling technology for the global communications market and a company that offers VoIP developers the hardware and software they need for high performance, wired and wireless communications solutions, announced today a number of new feature enhancements to its ApplianX IP Gateway (News - Alert).

The new features were added in response to customer feedback and demand for support of advanced features and will allow for greater supplementary service support for SIP, DPNSS and Q.SIG.

Specifically, the company said ApplianX IP Gateway will support Diversion, Transfer, Message Waiting Indicator and Route Optimization.

“We are very excited about the new features to be included in the ApplianX IP Gateway.  All have been added as a direct result to customer feedback and demand. Our expertise in network protocols has enabled Aculab (News - Alert) to support supplementary services over SIP, DPNSS and Q.SIG. This breadth of support simply hasn’t been available in a low cost ‘plug and play’ gateway appliance before," said Faye McClenahan, Head of Strategic Marketing at Aculab.

The ApplianX IP Gateway is a single purpose plug-and-play network appliance that extends the life of existing TDM based equipment and helps enterprises reduce operational costs while taking advantage of new IP-based services and endpoints.

The latest supported feature enhancements allow companies to continue to protect their investment in legacy equipment like PBX (News - Alert) while still taking advantage of all the latest IP offerings.

Other new enhancements, like a wider range of routing options for SIP-to-TDM or SIP-to-SIP, as well as the ability of the gateway to fallback to TDM if the SIP network fails, allow successful calls to be made and received regardless of the IP network's state.

Most recently, Aculab announced Porta One Stop Technologies (POSTcti) as a new strategic partner for their ApplianX range.

POSTcti (News - Alert) will carry the portfolio as its strategic channel partner in the U.K. and will reach into new markets to help customers more easily reach their communications goals.

Aculab is also a Diamond sponsor of the INTERENT TELEPHONY Conference & Expo happening now at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Be sure to check them out at booth 516.
