RAD Data Communications, a leading manufacturer of fixed and mobile network access equipment, will be exhibiting its portfolio of products at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona February 12-16. RAD's appearance at the event is part of its strategy to be the vendor of choice among cellular operators and service providers.
The company's products, which support cellular backhaul over packet switched networks, are particularly of interest to providers migrating TDM circuits from 2G networks and providers migrating ATM traffic from 3G to Ethernet/IP/MPLS backbone networks.
Gaby Junowicz, Director of Business Development for Cellular Networks at RAD, says that the high cost of backhaul transport makes innovative solutions such as pseudowire circuit emulation over Metro Ethernet--a concept that RAD pioneered, according to Junowicz--very appealing to mobile providers seeking to reduce their expenses.
RAD offers a broad range of devices optimized for packet infrastructure, including DSL modems for packet transport over copper, Integrated Access Devices to complement IP-DSLAMs, and products for WiFi and WiMAX in wireless environments. The company's clients include Time Warner Cable, which recently chose RAD's TDM Over IP pseudowire technology as part of its metro Ethernet service offerings in the Houston, Texas market.
“As a pioneer in this market, and with its broad range of solutions for packet switched transport, RAD has become a natural partner for both cellular operators and backhaul vendors,” Junowicz says.
