SPOT VoiceXML Test Portal Web Server Offers a Trial Run

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Interact is promoting successful use of the SPOT VoiceXML/CCXML Media platform with its SPOT Test Portal Web server. This testing solution brings a call application and Web-based interface together to deliver a simple and easy tool designed to allow customers to take a first look at SPOT.

With the SPOT Test Portal, users can observe SPOT VXML features with simply a Web browser and a soft phone. To gain access to the test portal for the trial period, user accounts are pre-configured with the SPOT standard default VXML application, which prompts the caller for DTMF input and states the entered digits back to the caller.

With an active account, a user can log into the system to create application entries, set their active application and view test run results and files. This user account is valid on the test portal for 30 days.

Interested parties can simply call the SIP URL on the main menu screen using a soft phone. The provided URL - which will look something like "sip:[email protected]" is specific to that user's SPOT Test Portal account and it should be used for all calls into the system.

Upon completion of the default application, the user has the ability to view the application tracing logs, which will look something like:

  Call Flow

   ---------

SPOT: Press any digits followed by the # sign

   Caller: DTMF 1234#

   SPOT: One.. Two.. Three.. Four..

Once a call is complete, the user can view the call log files associated under the "Runs" option:

  File Set

  --------

  Caper is the VXML log.

CX is the associated CCXML log.

CAPCOM may be present and will contain any parsing errors with your application

  document.

A user who is ready to move beyond the default application can add a URL to point SPOT at the application Web server and select which of the configured applications to activate. A call placed into the system will execute the active application.

Users must remember that the SPOT Test Portal only allows for the execution of VXML applications and when advancement to writing CCXML is necessary, an account setup will be necessary and the installation of SPOT trial licenses can begin.

In other Interact news, the company announced that IP Communications provider Broadvox has certified version 6.14 of Interact's SPOT Media Platform for interoperability with the BroadvoxGO! SIP Trunking product line.
