Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) Corp. today announced plans to acquire VoIP Supply LLC – one of the unified communications solutions provider’s top channel partners in the U.S. – for $3 million in cash.

In addition to Sangoma, VoIP Supply distributes solutions from Digium, Grandstream, Patton, Plantronics (News - Alert), and Polycom. Those solutions include VoIP phone systems and cloud services, VoIP gateways, VoIP PBX hardware, VoIP adapters, IP cameras and paging solutions, networking equipment, an array of headsets, wireless and wireline phones, VoIP accessories, Skype (News - Alert) solutions, and refurbished gear.

This deal is expected to enable Sangoma to strengthen its online presence and its relationships with end users, key resellers, and systems integrators. And it will create a company that is positioned to generate 2018 fiscal year revenue of greater than $45 million.

Following the close of the deal, which is expected in early July, VoIP Supply will become a Sangoma subsidiary. VoIP Supply’s President Paula Griffo will continue to lead that effort under this new arrangement.

Sangoma provides UC solutions for small and medium businesses, enterprises, OEMs, and service providers. Its offerings are available both via the cloud model and as on-premises solutions. The company, which is now public, was founded in 1984.

Sangoma has been through a lot of changes since then. The company got its start selling voice and data boards. But more recently the company has expanded to deliver turnkey solutions.

It has forwarded that strategy through a variety of acquisitions in recent years. In 2015 Sangoma bought both RockBochs Inc. and Schmooze (News - Alert). That followed Sangoma’s 2011 acquisition of VoIP gateway company VegaStream. And that was preceded by a 2008 deal through which Sangoma purchased Paraxip Technologies, which developed IP connectivity software used in IP telephony applications.

As for VoIP Supply, it’s a Buffalo, N.Y.-based company that’s been around for 15 years. And it’s a major presence in the channel.
