This week, on March 8, the world will celebrate International Women's Day, dedicated to bringing awareness against bias, celebrating women’s achievements and taking action for equality.

In business, women are making significant progress in leadership and today there are nearly 12 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. Still, many of these are startups and small businesses that face obstacles for funding.

To offer their support to female business owners and level the playing field, Avaya has announced a new tiered pricing offering to provide select Avaya Intelligent Xperiences (IX) communications and collaboration solutions.

The current program is targeted specifically at Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Businesses (EDWOSBs) and is part of the companies “Avaya for Communities” program which will offer reduced cost communications solutions for select businesses in a bid to spread inclusiveness and positivity at disadvantaged businesses across the globe.

With the program, which will require income, net worth and asset criteria established by the U.S. Small Business Administration to define EDWOSBs, to qualify, businesses will have access to significantly reduced pricing, sometimes even at zero cost if qualified, for a twelve-month period.

The business must be at least 51 percent owned and controlled by women managing day-to-day operations and making long-term decisions for the business to qualify for this offering.

Jim Chirico, Avaya President & CEO commented that the company chose the month of March to launch the program as it’s a time of year dedicated specifically to recognizing the achievements of women.

“This is the latest in a series of diversity and inclusion initiatives that Avaya has introduced, and one that I am particularly enthusiastic about.”

“Our commitment to corporate responsibility can create a positive change in the world through transforming the modern workplace. Improving access for disadvantaged businesses to leading communications and collaboration technology can help make a difference,” said Chirico.

Avaya is a company committed to, “creating positive changes in the world” and also provides support for education, humanitarian, and environmental projects with their Month of Giving program as well as other corporate responsibility programs.
