InnoMedia, a provider of innovative business communications solutions including virtual PBXs, is now deploying its Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking and hosted voice services for Source Cable Limited located in Hamilton, Ontario.

To deploy this service, InnoMedia has partnered with Clearcable Networks; a consulting engineering firm focused on the needs of mid-market broadband service providers and the development of new residential and business services products in Canada and the United States.

At the core of InnoMedia’s offerings are the Enterprise SIP Gateway (ESG) product that allows service providers such as Source Cable to provide SIP-based voice services to their enterprise customers. These products are designed to manage issues like SIP normalization between the enterprise virtual PBX and the operator's SIP servers, NAT Traversal, QoS Management and Network Quality Monitoring which are fully addressed by the InnoMedia ESG, according to a press release.

Darryl Chandler, vice president of operations and general manager of Source Cable, said in the release that the particularly attractive feature of the InnoMedia ESG product line for Source Cable was the ability to utilize Smart-DQoS technology to provide a guaranteed end-to-end QoS mechanism over our HFC plant.

This service allowed the company to deliver high-quality SIP trunking and virtual PBX services that would normally need to be run only on fiber or active Ethernet networks by large and medium-sized enterprises to small businesses by leveraging the broad reach and cost-effectiveness of our DOCSIS-based coaxial cable access network, Chandler added.

The ESG offers a variety of connection models ranging from high-speed Ethernet connectivity both to the IP-PBX and to the operator's core network, through PRI-enabled models that allow service providers to provide SIP trunks to end-users with traditional PBXs using a PRI connection, to devices having a DOCSIS 2.0 or DOCSIS 3.0 interface that enable cable MSO's to deliver business voice solutions in a very integrated form factor.

Shailesh Patel, senior director of Product Management at InnoMedia revealed that more and more cable operators are leveraging Smart-DQoS technology to supply an assured quality experience to their enterprise voice customers, without the need for the added network complexity of PacketCable Multimedia.

“Allied with its strengths in providing SIP normalization, NAT Traversal and Performance Monitoring, as well as an established track record for quality and reliability, the InnoMedia ESG is proving to be the ideal demarcation point for cable MSOs and broadband service providers alike in their delivery of business voice services to their customers," Patel added.

In addition to ESG devices, InnoMedia also offers a comprehensive suite of VoIP products including cable modem integrated eMTAs, Ethernet-based ATAs, virtual PBXs, IP Phones, and a complementary Element Management System (EMS) for provisioning and managing the entire portfolio of InnoMedia products.
