Phone.com Offers Financial Incentives for Virtual Office Referrals

By Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor

Halloween may be over, but a Livingston, N.J.-based provider of VoIP phone services is offering customers a little treat for referring others its virtual office solutions.

Phone.com, an online virtual phone company, has launched a rewards program to promote its Virtual Office services. Under it, customers can reduce the cost of their monthly plan or accumulate credit by making friend referrals.

Here’s how it works. Phone (News - Alert).com is offering a free month of service for each referral it receives, Ari Rabban, CEO of Phone.com, said. A second level of the program lets customer earn credit for referrals. Customers who sign up for Phone.com’s (News - Alert) Virtual Number service – a solution that gives people the ability to control the location of calls and messages – or Home Phone plans can earn credit to lower their monthly costs. The credit can be used to buy value added services from Phone.com such as international minutes, voicemail transcription services, professional custom greetings, Rabban said.

The benefits will exist as long as referred friends are registered to one of Phone.com’s available plans, company officials said.

Phone.com relies on the growing number of customers to spread the word about its services, Ari Rabban (News - Alert), said. The rewards program is one way Phone.com can return the favor for that loyalty, he said.

And during a weak economy, cost savings are more important than ever. Already, a number of Phone.com customers are taking advantage of the discount offered in the referral program, Rabban said.

“Our customer feedback is important to us,” Rabban said. “We add features based on comments from customers and have an active dialogue with them. When customers like what they get and how we serve them, they tell their friends and we reward them for that.”

With Phone.com’s Virtual Office solutions, customers can choose their own phone number, or transfer their existing home phone or cell phone to Phone.com. Users can also decide where they want to receive calls and can also send the calls to any phone number. In addition, routing can also be handled based on caller ID or the time of day, so people can control the number of calls they receive.

The service also lets users listen to voicemail on their phone and view the messages in users’ e-mail inbox. Users can also click to hear their messages or read them with Virtual Office’s transcription service.

The company recently enhanced its services and launched a series of features for its Virtual office and home phone services that now let customers use call recording, advanced call screening and call tagging free of charge.
