UCell Uzbekistan Selects Comverse Services to Derive More Revenues

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributing Editor

UCell Uzbekistan has announced it selected Comverse billing, ringback tone, and call completion services to derive more revenues from voice calls and improve the experience of mobile phone users.

FE COSCOM LLC is a part of TeliaSonera group and operates under UCell trademark in Uzbekistan. The company's main activity is the development of modern mobile communication system in GSM 900/1800 standard. By January 2009, the company’s subscriber base exceeded 2.8 million

Comverse (News - Alert) is a provider of software and systems enabling network-based messaging and content value-added services, prepaid, postpaid and converged billing, mobile advertising and IP communications.

“Comverse’s solutions provide us with the features we need to handle new growth and enrich the user experience with choice, convenience, control and fun,” said Helge Raitanen, chief technical officer at UCell.

Thanks to the Comverse service, UCell subscribers can now find out who tried to call them when they were unreachable, even though a message was not left.

The service can also notify the calling subscriber as soon as the unreachable party becomes available in the network.

Comverse officials said that the company developed the two services, known as “Who Called” and “Notify Me,” to address the fact that roughly 30 percent of calls go unanswered.

Officials said that with the help of the new prepaid billing service, UCell subscribers can have balance notifications at the end of calls and to replenish their balances via various services.

“UCell is a forward-thinking operator that realizes just as value-added services can increase user satisfaction and generate growth, the correct billing approach helps turn billing and customer care into new opportunities for revenue and growth,” said Dror Bin, president of Comverse products group.

“We look forward to broadening our longstanding relationship with UCell.”

Earlier this month, Comverse announced that one of India’s largest cellular providers, Bharti Airtel (News - Alert), deployed a Comverse SMS Router network to optimize network performance, handle growing SMS text messaging traffic and introduce new and advanced SMS-related services.
