Offering improved enterprise-class routing and network security for its customers, Vyatta, a provider of open networking and network virtualization, has introduced Vyatta Version 6.1, which comes with IPv6 Ready Logo Phase 2 certification.
On this occasion, the company has also introduced stateful firewall failover and enhanced intrusion prevention services in partnership with a company called Sourcefire.
Verifying the implementation of IPv6 core routing protocols, Vyatta (News - Alert) Version 6.1 has received IPv6 Ready Logo Phase 2 certification. The completion of the IPv6 Ready Logo Phase 2 tests ensures a smooth migration for Vyatta 6.1 customers to the enhanced network security, reliability and performance of IPv6, the company claims. Also, making Vyatta a future-proofed routing and security solution for physical, virtual and cloud computing environments, Vyatta 6.1 SE is the industry's first software-based and virtual network OS to be certified IPv6 Phase 2 Ready.
“Network requirements are changing faster than ever before and right-sizing the network to applications, workloads, and evolving infrastructures requires the scalability that only a software-based routing and security solution can provide," said Tom McCafferty, vice president of marketing for Vyatta. "The security enhancements delivered in the Vyatta Version 6.1 software release make it even easier for large, distributed organizations to connect, protect and secure physical, virtual and cloud computing environments.”
Layer 2 cloud bridging allows physically separate networks to securely communicate with each other over the internet for cloud providers and enterprises moving applications or servers. Ensuring continuity during a phased migration, this capability simplifies the migration of applications and physical servers between data centers. Vyatta Core Version 6.1 (VC6.1) is available now and can be downloaded at www.vyatta.com.
Recently, the company announced that there is growing interest in its open networking solutions in Asia. The company delivers a software-based, open-source, network operating system that is portable to standard x86 hardware as well as common virtualization and cloud computing platform. To rake in this opportunity, Vyatta announced it has signed a reseller agreement with Japanese systems integrator Entertainment Imaginers (“Emaginers.”)
