Saving Time and Money with Telecom Cost Management

By Erin Harrison, Senior Editor

Today’s telecom charges are often inaccurate, complicated – even fraudulent. According to industry experts at Tellennium, without software tools and well-defined processes, enterprises cannot effectively manage their telecom expenses.
In addition to cost-savings, customers can gain other significant benefits from Tellennium’s telecom cost management solutions.
“Undoubtedly, the biggest benefit Tellennium delivers to its clients is cost savings, which average a whopping 28 percent of the typical client’s ‘pre-Tellennium’ telecom monthly spending,” said Russ Maney (News - Alert), principal and co-founder of Xponential Group, a Louisville, Ky.-based technology procurement services company that represents Tellennium. “However, the one that’s most appreciated by the employees of Tellennium’s clients themselves is the time and effort savings that come with the cost savings.”
Using its Tellennium Integrated Management System, Tellennium typically performs all invoice processing and analysis – and, in some cases, payment processing –  for its clients. Therefore, client employees are relieved of the very tedious and repetitive task of processing all of the monthly invoices from all of the company’s telecom providers across all of the company’s locations.
“For large and widely distributed companies, these invoices can number in the hundreds per month and, when stacked up, can tower several feet high,” Maney explained. “And yet, as tedious as it is to analyze every charge on every page, these invoices often represent tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, of dollars in the company’s monthly spending. So, these invoices must be carefully analyzed, regardless of the time required.”
By outsourcing this very important, but also very time-consuming, task to the professionals at Tellennium, Tellennium client employees can dedicate their time to other company work.  At the same time, company managers still know that their company’s telecom spending is being continuously audited and optimized by Tellennium, Maney added.
Tellennium’s expense management services reduce the time required to process invoices, as well as centralize and improve the management of all telecom expenses, circuit inventories, equipment, and more.
According to company officials, TIMS provides:
·        Streamlined invoice processing, including OCR and automated cost allocations;
·        Continuous invoice auditing, with variance tools, notifications and dispute tracking;
·        Comprehensive financial reporting, including budgeting, trending and forecasting;
·        Circuit and equipment inventories, infrastructure management and optimization;
·        MACS (Move/Add/Change/Service) management;
·        Contract adherence and notification;
·        Hierarchal and credentialed user access;
·        Distributed or centralized invoice approval options; and
·        Tellennium-staffed Help Desk.
The Tellennium Group was recently given the 2009 Best of Business Award in the telecom expense management category by the Small Business Commerce Association.
