MDSL Telecom Cost Management Highlights

While telecom cost management is often discussed strictly in the context of U.S.-based deployments, this discipline for keeping communications costs under control — and the solutions that make it possible — is increasingly being applied internationally as well.

 
For multi-national companies that require a way to globally manage telecommunications expenses, what’s needed is a telecom cost management vendor with the systems that can address the complexities of overseas invoicing and other tasks that vary in format from country to country.
 
One such telecom cost management provider, MDSL (News - Alert), has been focusing on serving the needs of multi-nationals for a while now. Just under a year ago, the company opened a support office in Macau to serve Asia-based clients. Macau is strategically located near the coast of China, about 40 miles southwest of Hong Kong. Help desk operations at the facility were launched in January.
 
MDSL’s CEO, Ben Mendoza (News - Alert), pointed out at the time that the company already offered global support, with offices in London, New York and Tokyo. Growth in its Asia customer base meant it was time to expand this capability even further.
 
“We see a number of new opportunities emerging for MDSL in the region, especially from China,” Mendoza said, in a statement. “The new Macau office will house a further dedicated help desk and ASP support team ready to meet the growing demand.”
 
MDSL’s efforts to better serve the global telecom cost management market were rewarded in January when it received ISO 9001:2001 certification. This standard of excellence was granted by the International Organization of Standardization, a non-governmental organization with operations in more than 140 countries. The ISO certification followed on the heels MDSL earning a “positive” rating by analyst firm Gartner (News - Alert), Inc.
 
“MDSL considers product quality and customer care to be its highest priorities,” said Simon Bone, director of operations at the company, in a statement. “Accreditation for this ISO quality standard validates that the quality systems we have in place are working at optimal levels.”
 
More recently, in March, MDSL entered into an exclusive venture with 3d innovations limited (3di), a provider of solutions for delivering market data. MSDL signed on to integrate data from 3di’s Profiler infobase into its own on-demand market data management peer-to-peer (P2P) solution.
 
“Incorporating an intelligent link between MDM and 3di’s Profiler data adds a new dimension to market data management,” said Mendoza, MDSL’s CEO, in a statement. “Not only are we adding the depth and detail of 3di’s information to our existing financial services directory, but the link also adds business intelligence to our online Request and Procurement tool (RPM).”
 
Mendoza added: “An example benefit is that someone requesting or authorizing a new market data service in RPM can instantly see all the equivalent services options available and make the most appropriate choice from both a data content and cost perspective.”
