CCID Consulting Analyzes Singapore Telecom's International Expansion
By Brian Solomon, TMCnet Web Editor
China’s leading research, consulting and IT outsourcing service provider CCID Consulting, has released an analysis of Singapore Telecom’s international experience.
Singapore Telecom successfully transformed into a leading operator over the course of the past ten years, becoming a multi-national, all business telecommunications operator with a major impact in the Asia-Pacific Area. Last year, it reached sales revenues of $7.64 billion, and is No. 355 in the Forbes Global Top 2000 Advanced Firms.
CCID Consulting highlights the experiences gained from internationalization, noting specifically how the implementation revolves around two strategies: the search for cooperation and their gradual evolution, which could be useful reference information for China-domestic operators trying to expand in much the same way. CCID recommends that operators and evolve gradually.
Singapore Telecom’s experience is summarized in the report as a search for cooperation followed by gradual evolution, and the recommended option for operators is to combine the resources from domestic telecom manufacturers. CCID’s results indicate that the same internationalization strategy would be a necessity for Chinese telecom operators, who can only become global operators through international competition.
