Telinta's CEO Discusses Market Shifts in Switch Partition Industry

TMC (News - Alert) recently had the opportunity to discuss the developments in the hosted billing industry with Telinta's CEO Alex Ferdman. Discussing Telinta's offerings with its PortaSwitch package, Ferdman also reviews some of the changes and challenges of today's hosted billing market. Read on for the full exchange.
TMC: Telinta has been partners with PortaOne (News - Alert) for years, but what makes Telinta's offerings especially different from PortaOne's?
AF: PortaOne offers a software package. Telinta offers all functionality of this package on a rental basis. Telinta has made years of investment in building our hosted PortaSwitch platform. All technical expertise required to manage, maintain, and operate the platform is covered by Telinta as part of our hosted package. Telinta takes care of the technical details, letting our clients focus on bringing more revenue to their successful businesses.
The no upfront capital investments aspect enables service providers to economically offer telecommunication services without any need to acquire expensive hardware, software and facilities. Telinta's experienced technical staff will take care of running the platform to allow our clients to concentrate on running and growing their businesses.

Telinta offers live personal training performed online and via phone eliminating costly travel expenses.
Over the years, Telinta enhanced major components of PortaSwitch, developed plug-in modules and internal tools to handle large number of new features and value added services that are not part of standard PortaSwitch. Thanks to redesigned software architecture, natively integrated open source packages and numerous custom patches performance of our PortaSwitch surpasses any other PortaSwitch on the market today.

We can even change reverse DNS to provide any domain name our clients want, even a non-existent one.
We have a detailed monitoring system in place that monitors server health, we perform daily snapshot backups of all servers and billing database, and we have a solid financial history.
TMC: Has your company noticed any particular changes in the market recently with the fluctuating economic times?
AF: We see a further market consolidation with fewer players and fewer alternatives to customers. We feel that customers need to be especially careful in choosing the right provider. On the other hand, we have noticed that potential customers are now much more serious about choosing the right partner to be successful. Not being a commodity provider, Telinta welcomes this opportunity to show our best side to these serious potential partners.
TMC: What are some challenges Telinta has faced, if any, in recent years, and how has the company grown from them?
AF: Talking to the new customers and going to trade shows we see some reduction in leads. Perhaps people are more concerned about economy, perhaps the market simply stabilized. However, we feel that the companies with strong service will survive. So we are continuing to grow Telinta's network and our Support department to take care of our client's needs.
