Speech technologies provider Loquendo, a Telecom Italia (News - Alert) company headquartered in Turin, today announced the availability of its speech recognition technology in both Danish and Finnish.
Officials with the company say this addition brings the total number of languages its automatic speech recognition, or “ASR” technology supports to 24 and brings its ASR offerings specifically for the Scandinavian market to three languages.
Loquendo’s (News - Alert) speech recognition technology can understand a large-scale vocabulary and is multi-lingual and speaker-independent. The technology can be used for telephony applications as well as embedded devices and noisy environments. For customer care, the speech interface can improve caller experiences and strengthen customer loyalty.
ASR 7.7, the latest version of the offering, includes improved recognition accuracy and the ability to recognize brief, consecutive commands.
Loquendo recently partnered with multimedia communications company Artematica to launch a new content delivery service “The Woice,” that will make it easier to build and edit Web sites and offers the ability to deliver Web content by phone.
Using Loquendo’s text-to-speech technology, The Woice can read out on-screen content to callers over the phone or callers can use their voice to navigate the site and locate content based on a few spoken keywords or phrases.
