Nuance and Huawei Develop Voice Activated Dialing Solutions for China

Nuance Communications, provider of speech applications and solutions and telecom equipment provider, Huawei, announced today that Huawei's Voice Activated Dialing (VAD) Solutions, developed with Nuance's automated speech recognition technologies, have been successfully deployed in China.
Huawei's VAD solutions are available for both landline and mobile users, and utilize voice commands to dial contacts stored in a secure network-based server. This value-added service eliminates the need to use touchtone keys, remember specific numbers or in the case of the enterprise and corporate world, the VAD solution can also be leveraged as an auto-attendant service--eliminating the need to wait for operator assistance when trying to reach a department or contact.
According to a recent press release, VAD is a key component of the Huawei enterprise communications solution for mobile operators and forms part of the Network Intelligence solution for fixed line operators.
Michael Thompson, vice president and general manager, Telco Search and Communications Divison, Nuance (News - Alert) commented in a statement to the press, "Huawei is unleashing some of the industry's most innovative solutions for the China market and beyond."
"With more than 400 million users, China represents the world's largest mobile phone market. Nuance mobile offers the ideal solution for partners such as Huawei to develop speech-enabled solutions that will create compelling, value-added services for this growing market."
China Mobile, China NetCom and China Telecom have all deployed the VAD Solutions.
