U.K. Firm Chooses VoSKY Skype Business Solution to Lower Telephony Costs, Boost Efficiency

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

VoSKY (News - Alert) Technologies recently announced that its PBX-to-Skype gateway solution was chosen by Total Integrated Communications (TIC) to lower its callings costs and improve communications with both remote workers and customers.

TIC is a Birmingham-based company in the U.K. that specializes in cabling and network solutions. It has offices in the U.K. and Spain.

In order to streamline its communications functions, TIC chose to deploy VoSKY’s Exchange 9140 gateway, which lets all employees make, receive and transfer Skype (News - Alert) calls using the company’s phone system. This reduces the cost of international calls, both those associated with customer service and with staff at other offices.

Here’s how it works: TIC employees in Spain dial into the U.K.-based PBX for free using Skype and the VoSKY gateway; then they dial out through that system. The result is that they pay local, U.K. rates for their calls.

Previously, TIC was using a PC-to-PC Skype solution that proved too inflexible and expensive to be sustainable. That system required headsets for each computer and other peripheral equipment, plus it meant employees had to be sitting in front of a computer to make and receive calls.

Choosing VoSKY’s business Skype solution has reduced costs and boosted efficiency.

“As well as free Skype calls, a key benefit of the VoSKY Exchange is that it enables mobile and remote workers to dial directly into the PBX (News - Alert) and use any extension to make calls out from our Exchange,” said Danny Haines, director at TIC, in a statement.

Haines continued: “It’s simple for staff to use, and a valuable application for us is the ability to easily set up Skype conference calls with customers, saving us both money. It’s a win-win set-up for us, and we expect the VoSKY solution to pay for itself within a matter of months.”

VoSKY’s Exchange 9140 gateway lets employees working remotely to make Skype calls (using an access code) from any landline or mobile phone. Incoming landline calls are transferable to any phone number of Skype ID inside or outside the office. Plus, all that’s required to make a call between offices is a location code and an extension.
