Sutus and Excel Telecommunications Collaborate to Provide Office-in-a-Box Solution to SMBs

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

Sutus, a company that provides an all-in-one solution that combines all the telephony, data and networking features needed to run a modern-day office, has announced certified interoperability with Excel Communications, a provider of SIP trunking services for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The companies achieved certified interoperability between Excel SIP Trunking Services and the Sutus (News - Alert) Business Central.

With the newly announced interoperability, resellers will be able to provide their small business customers with an affordable, reliable and comprehensive IT and telephony bundle that is unmatched in the market.

Thanks to Business Central's advanced built-in remote support features, the channel will be able to better meet the needs of small businesses. Before, tech support would have required a truck roll, but it can now be managed remotely by basic support staff.

Targeted at businesses with up to 25 employees, Sutus Business Central includes a wide range of advanced telephony, data and networking functions. Some of its features include a business-class phone system, file and e-mail server, router, firewall, wireless access point, VPN remote access server, and automated backups. It also has the ability to simultaneously support both standard phone line and VoIP connections and comes with a wide array of business productivity features.

According to Steve Weltner, director of product development at Excel, small businesses will highly benefit from Sutus’ “office-in-a-box” appliance.

“With the Business Central's rich feature-set and All-In-One approach the total cost of ownership is dramatically reduced since everything the small office needs is streamlined and there is just one simple box to maintain and manage. Furthermore, with Excel's new SIPpbx Equipment Upgrade Program, affordability is a non-factor as the device ends up being virtually free,” said Weltner.

Shawn Chute, executive vice president of Sutus, explained that today’s tough economic situation has forced many businesses to shift their focus on pricing and simplicity.

"Excel and Sutus have come together to deliver on both these fronts, providing the small business customer and the channel that services them with an affordable, comprehensive and straight forward communications and IT bundle. One price, one solution, one contact point, we have made it as simple as it can be to subscribe to a fully integrated solution,” he added.

Sutus and Excel will be onsite to discuss and showcase their latest solutions at a Las Vegas conference this week.

The Sutus Business Central has received numerous awards including Internet Telephony (News - Alert) magazine's 2007 product of the year award, VON Innovators Award 2008, Unified Communications product of the year awards and ITEXPO's 'Best Newcomer' award. The solution is designed specifically for offices with up to 25 users providing all core IT infrastructure as well as on-demand turnkey VoIP and other advanced phone and data services through Sutus business partners. The Business Central claims to dramatically improve a reseller's ability to easily service small business customers with locations of 25 users or less.

As a provider of SIP trunking services for small to medium sized businesses, Excel has deployed a near ubiquitous VoIP network in the United States. The company’s SIP trunking portfolio was created in an effort to address evolving IP PBX (News - Alert) customer requirements. Excel's SIP trunking service provides partners with excellent features such as virtual voice paths and advance rerouting enabling unified communications.
