IT EXPO News: CosmoCom and BandTel to Deliver VoIP for Contact Centers

By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Enterprises looking for a way to add VoIP capabilities to their contact center operations by just bundling VoIP gateways with their legacy telephone lines are in luck. CosmoCom has partnered with SIP Trunking service provider BandTel (News - Alert) to now offer a combined, all-IP unified customer communications platform that will offer contact centers a way to do just that.

BandTel announced this development as the company prepares for a set of presentations by its top executives at this year's INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO East, taking place this week, January 23-26, 2007 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

"With CosmoCom and BandTel, the VoIP gateways are in the network, saving enterprises both time and money," commented CosmoCom's CEO and chairman Ari Sonesh in a statement released on Tuesday. "Implementing an IP contact center is faster and less expensive, making an already strong business case even more compelling."

With CosmoCom and BandTel joining forces, enterprises will be able to deploy CosmoCom's technology on their premises with BandTel's SIP trunks.

"CosmoCom's open, standards-based platform is a model for an industry often hampered by proprietary variations. It made interoperability testing remarkably quick and easy. Together, we offer a flexible, dependable, and cost-effective solution to enterprises for migrating their contact center to IP with minimum pain and maximum gain," added BandTel's CEO Chris Dunk, who will be speaking this Thursday, January 25th at this year's INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO East. Dunk will be one of the speakers featured in the session called "All aboard the IP train," which is scheduled for 2:30pm.

BandTel also announced today that its SIP Trunking architecture is now fully interoperable with TalkSwitch telephone systems. The move will enable customers to chose from a set of toll-quality VoIP dialing plans from BandTel, and connect to them through a TalkSwitch (News - Alert) telephone system at their office.

With the BandTel/TalkSwitch system in place, customers should be able to reduce their telecom charges and gain access to enhanced network services. TalkSwitch's systems hybrid capabilities enable customers to keep their connections to the traditional telephone network without having to acquire additional equipment.
