ABC News recently selected Alteva (News - Alert) to provide the new portable HD telecommunications solutions at the just concluded Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL. and the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC., scheduled to be held September 3-6.

The ABC News political team, covering the conventions, operates from an office on wheels that feature a hosted Unified Communications (News - Alert) solution from Alteva. The solution helps start out on  VoIP phone or via an IM and then overlay different applications such as desktop sharing or video in a seamless, non-disruptive way, giving participants the ability to collaborate using an ultimate solution. 

Company officials said that the Alteva solution support production crews, reporters, and anchors with e-mail, faxing and HD voice communications. It can also be moved to remote locations frequently, supporting multiple broadcasts. Moreover, the company provides redundancy in two backup locations, ensuring safe and secure access to communications functions.
