Pac-West Reports Tremendous Growth for Its On-Demand Border Controllers

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Pac-West Telecomm’s Telastic on-demand border controller service has rated and routed in excess of a billion minutes through the end of 2010. Pac-West Telecomm (News - Alert), a provider of wholesale advanced telecommunications services, launched the service in September 2010.

The company claims that premier carriers and service providers leverage the Telastic Border Controller to fuel growth in their business. The clients recognize the service’s superior functionality and a service-based pricing model, which means paying only for the capacity they use.

“The sea-change to VoIP has been driving unprecedented growth in the Session Border Controller market,” said Vic Bozzo, president and general manager of Pac-West's Telastic business unit. “The Telastic Border Controller is quickly emerging as an obvious choice for companies that want to securely deploy VoIP scalably without having to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a box upfront.”

The company’s Telastic on-demand service set consists of three integrated elements: Telastic Infrastructure, Telastic Application Capacity, and Telastic Turnkey VoIP Applications.

At the heart of the Telastic Infrastructure offering is the robust Telastic Border Controller technology, which provides scalable on-demand border control, including VoIP security with network address translation capability, firewall traversal, and interworking.

Also included in the Telastic Border Controller is a suite of advanced managerial features: domestic and international routing, VoIP peering, numbers management, billing, traffic analysis and reporting, revenue protection, fraud detection, and traffic management.

Last year, Terrapin (News - Alert) Solutions, a cloud services master agency, entered into a partnership with Pac-West Telecomm in order to make the Telastic white-label hosted IP/PBX (News - Alert) service available to Terrapin's more than 1,400 nationwide agents.
