Reliable connectivity is at a premium during the current coronavirus pandemic, and those service providers putting best foot forward with best practice are playing the role of unspoken hero during these curious times. Service standards offer solid standing for network services, and today we saw a wave of certification when we need it the most.

MEF (News - Alert) announced Telia Company, Comcast Business, Spectrum (News - Alert) Enterprise and PCCW Global are the first round of service providers to earn certification to deliver MEF 3.0 SD-WAN services. Compliance of SD-WAN Services Attributes and Services (MEF 70) Standard in the SD-WAN managed services was validated by MEF SD-WAN Authorized Certified Test Partner Spirent.

“MEF congratulates Comcast (News - Alert) Business, PCCW Global, Spectrum Enterprise, and Telia Company for achieving MEF 3.0 SD-WAN certification, which is an important innovation milestone not only for each company but also for the industry at large,” said Nan Chen, President, MEF. “We expect broad adoption of certified MEF 3.0 SD-WAN services and technologies will help fuel market growth and enable creation of powerful new hybrid networking solutions optimized for digital transformation.”

Digital transformation is paramount, and those embracing the next generation in networking are seeing their way through the coronavirus pandemic with minimal disruption. Service providers are rallying to support operations, and MEF is doing what it can to further the efforts.

The workforce in mass numbers is migrating home, from the Fortune 500 to the FDA. Earlier this week, Microsoft Teams saw service disruption, serving as an illustration of the challenges placed on SaaS (News - Alert) and network service providers.
