At last month’s SD-WAN Expo, Senior Director at Aryaka Mouli Radhakrishnan (News - Alert) explored the question of “Is SD-WAN Ready for Global Deployments?” in the event’s opening session. Radhakrishnan dialed in on the questions enterprises should ask, and what boxes to check off when evaluating SD-WAN for global growth. The industry has a front row seat for this up-and-coming technology’s ascension to prime time.

Indeed, this week, Siemens (News - Alert) chose to upgrade infrastructure with a six-year contract with Orange Business Services to migrate its global infrastructure to a more agile, flexible and dynamic SD-WAN network. With the newly deployed SD-WAN in place, Siemens can connect its 1,500 locations across 94 countries, enabling cloud applications and IoT devices.

“As a globally operating company with subsidiaries and divisions all over the world, we need a reliable and flexible communication network that is a critical business enabler and can evolve with our growing business,” said Frederik Janssen, Head of Siemens IT Infrastructure Portfolio and Strategy.

The “Siemens Digitalization Network” (SDN) built on SD-WAN infrastructure will support industry 4.0 processes, and positions the organization well to see the potential of our connected world.

Janssen added, “We chose Orange (News - Alert) Business Services because we see it as a prime partner with the ability to deliver seamless worldwide SD-WAN coverage with the highest degree of security standards – especially to protect against threats from the Internet, quality of service, local support and an attractive price-performance ratio. We were also impressed by the flexibility and the service level Orange Business Services (News - Alert) has been providing as a trusted partner to Siemens over the past several years.”

The future of networking is software-defined, composed of more dynamic components and empowering the digital age.
