MegaPath (News - Alert) announced yesterday that it is expanding its managed software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) offering for SMB and enterprise customers. The new packages, SD-WAN Pro and SD-WAN Enterprise, are meant to give companies more flexibility to help them build a solution that meets their business need, size and budget.

MegaPath is a provider of voice, data, security and cloud services in North America that works to help businesses fully leverage the cloud. Since the cloud is all about convenience, it makes sense that the company’s motivation behind these two new packages is to eliminate the complexity and cost of supporting a private network at the branch level.

“As businesses continue to increase their reliance on the cloud, they are turning to SD-WAN technology to maximize application performance and eliminate downtime for maximum productivity,” said Dan Foster (News - Alert), President, Business Markets, MegaPath. “MegaPath uniquely takes a best-of-breed, multi-vendor approach to SD-WAN, giving smaller businesses a low-cost entry point to this popular, private networking technology, while giving distributed organizations access to the industry’s most comprehensive SD-WAN feature set.”

To make operations easier, SD-WAN Enterprise brings together multi-location networking with always-on WAN connectivity to support mission-critical, cloud-based services such as voice and video. In fact, both packages offer a slew of capabilities meant to improve ease of use, including an IPsec VPN, which securely connects business sites and remote workers on one network; application performance monitoring; load balancing and failover that automatically balances network traffic between multiple WAN links; and optional managed Wi-Fi.

Anyone looking to get the most from their money should probably take a look at SD-WAN Enterprise. Not only does it support six of the abovementioned WAN links, it also provides real-time application failover with guaranteed zero downtime. This means that high priority application traffic is re-routed over an available WAN connection in real-time, to avoid any dropped call or traffic interruption. It also includes bi-directional priority routing and true bandwidth aggregation.

Arnaud Gautier (News - Alert), Chief Marketing Officer, MegaPath, firmly believes that SD-WAN is that way to go if you want to run a successful business, no matter how large or small. He said, “SD-WAN supports more economical broadband circuits than MPLS without sacrificing real-time application performance, like voice and video. Unlike other providers, MegaPath offers the flexibility to deliver SD-WAN 'over the top,' or over our carrier-agnostic WAN connections. All services may be combined with our business VoIP, UCaaS, WiFi (News - Alert) and Security services.”
