Desktone, Rackspace Hosting Provide Private Cloud-Based Desktops

Desktone, Inc., offering Desktops as a Service (DaaS), entered into a partner network with Rackspace Hosting (News - Alert), a specialist in hosting and private cloud computing for the provision of Desktone Cloud. This is a cost effective way to deploy private cloud-based desktops.


Company sources added that this relationship will help clients to launch brand awareness programs for both companies. Rackspace’s enterprise-class data center with Desktone’s secure platform will help customers to benefit from virtual desktops in a cost effective way as it is much lower than those required with virtual desktop infrastructure or VDI and traditional desktop environments.

Desktone also helps reduce upfront capital investment besides also the ongoing expenses of managing complex environments by providing the virtual desktop environment in the cloud. Desktone offers a true cloud-based desktop with zero upfront costs without any software or hardware to deploy with flexible deployment and pricing options.

In a press release, Peter McKay, CEO of Desktone, said, “Enterprises are telling us they want a fast, easy way to realize the flexibility, cost savings and security promises of cloud computing and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). By teaming with Rackspace, one of the world’s leading cloud providers, we’re enabling businesses to leverage the scale, reliability, security and global distribution of the Rackspace data center footprint.”

“Together, we’re making it simple for enterprises to quickly transition to an innovative, yet low-risk, ‘as-a-service’ offering. Not only is Desktone Cloud priced much lower than other offerings, with our Fast Start trial customers can experience virtual desktops in a matter of hours,” McKay added.

Robert Fuller, VP of Worldwide Channel Sales at Rackspace, was pleased to work with  Desktone for offering customers an easy to deploy desktop. Desktone Cloud offers organizations the advantages of desktop virtualization without deployment complexities, cost effectively. Clients can now rapidly provision desktops, scaling up or down according to their needs, he noted.

The Desktone Cloud service is powered by the Desktone Platform 3, a purpose-built product for delivering desktops in the cloud. The service is fast and easy to implement and it helps customers to simply convert their desktop workloads to workloads on Rackspace-hosted servers and pay a monthly per-desktop fee.
