With the New Year comes new consumer demands and for those in the market for new power protection products, Minuteman UPS/Para Systems (News - Alert) has you covered.

In honor of the New Year, the power protection technology provider has decided to shed some light on its SNMP-NV6 card, an add-on card that affords tremendous benefits for users, according to company officials.

Minuteman offers several options for monitoring and controlling select UPS and remote power management products via Simple Network Management Protocol, or SNMP,” Duston Nixon, marketing communications specialist for Minuteman, told TMCnet. “These add-on cards are available for many of our products, and expand the user’s capabilities tremendously. Through the SNMP NMS and Web browser, users can obtain the UPS status, issue commands to the UPS, and even provide safe shutdown during power events for select operating systems.”

The SNMP-NV6 communications card represents the newest model in Minuteman’s lineup of SNMP communications equipment. The units offer 10/100 Mbit IPv4 or IPv6 connection, and are protected with V3 and SSL 32-bit security.

These cards were launched in the fourth quarter of 2011 in an effort to guarantee that Minuteman customers have the most up to date security options for monitoring their UPSs and other power devices via the network. According to company officials, those that stand to benefit the most from the card include administrators who require an economical solution for monitoring and controlling their power devices from a browser on any device with Internet or intranet access.

“The SNMP-NV6 communications card gives users the ability to connect to their UPS or remote power manager through their network via an RJ45 connector,” Nixon said “This provides the capability to both monitor and manage the device through a secure connection from any computer or mobile device. Other features available include event logs and metering data, multiple server shutdown, automatic notification of power events, and support for network time protocol, telnet configuration, and NetBIOS name service.”

So what has been the response to the SNMP card?

“A large portion of our customers depend on SNMP communications cards every day, and appreciate being able to utilize the newest security protocols available,” Nixon said. “The NV6 is the latest step in that ongoing update process, and our users have been positive about being able to utilize the V3 and SSL security protocols.”
