For our neighbors in the southwest – namely Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss – Hurricane season is that dreaded time of the year where disaster recovery plans must be successfully crafted and businesses all over have to hope that they can remain up and safeguarded.

While you not might think of Texas as being in the path of hurricanes, data from the past 60 years has illustrated that the Texas coast is hit by an average of three hurricanes and two tropical storms each decade. And the aftermath of such a natural disaster often results in prolonged power outages and floods which leave businesses of all sizes helpless, especially as organizations become increasingly dependent on IT systems for financial data, employee information, customer databases, data on projects in progress, and sales and distribution information.

Accordingly, this year, the Aldridge Company – a provider, consultant and integrator of IT and cloud computing solutions for SMBs – has geographically diversified its data center portfolio to ensure stability in the event of a natural disaster, especially with the majority of its clients located in the hurricane-prone Houston area. The Aldridge Company has selected Phoenix NAP in Phoenix, Ariz., one of the safest-from-natural-disaster cities in the U.S., for colocation and cloud hosting needs, according to company officials.

"We are adding data center services in Phoenix because our customers and prospective customers depend on uninterrupted access to their data," said Chief Operating Officer Patrick R. Wiley. "We take these responsibilities seriously and this diversification ensures Houston-area businesses have cost effective access to a secure environment with resilient power and cooling systems and a high level of physical security to make sure customers' IT infrastructure is running 24x7."

From dedicated servers to colocation to cloud hosting, the Aldridge Company provides constant and current data availability, security and stability which allows customers to rest assure that they will always enjoy uptime. Its IT solutions include complete management of servers, PCs and networks coupled with rapid and accurate technical support. They also provide audits of security and disaster recovery readiness.

Phoenix NAP is a PCI (News - Alert) DSS Validated Services Provider and a SOC Type 2 audited facility which features power protection backup systems that include redundant generators and 99 percent efficient PureWave(TM) Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units.

One company that certainly knows a thing or two about power protection is Minuteman UPS/Para Systems (News - Alert), a leading provider of power technologies. To show its commitment to keeping businesses up and running, earlier this month Minuteman announced that it has decided to extend its instant April rebates on its best mission-critical UPSs including the EnterprisePlus and Endeavor Series UPSs into May.

“The response to these rebates has been very positive, and we have found that many of our distributor and reseller customers have been able to win business with the pricing advantage they provided,” Duston Nixon, marketing communications specialist for Minuteman, told TMCnet. “Users have also been excited to take advantage of the lower prices, particularly on the external battery packs. In light of these positives, it was really a no-brainer for us to extend them another month.”

The company chose to feature the EnterprisePlus and Endeavor Series for the instant rebates because Minuteman contends that theseunits provide a “tremendous” combination of features and value not typically found in these higher levels of UPS. For more, click here.
