Increase Cost Savings with VoIP Phone Systems

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

More and more businesses are making the switch to VoIP phone systems for improved communications capabilities and cost savings.

VoIP can provide businesses with a host of savings over the traditional "POTS" network including a low upfront investment in equipment, low long distance charges and savings in office overhead costs.

A recent VendorGuru.com article, "How Business VoIP Solutions Save Companies Money," points to five different ways businesses can save money with a VoIP phone system.

The first advantage provided by a VoIP phone system is the ability for companies to bring together voice and data streams, so connections are less complex. Also, companies can add more workstations and set up live Ethernet ports around their company so employees can be mobile and remain connected.

Also, VoIP phone systems make it possible for businesses to save on long distance calling as well as connect with remote teams through video conferences or on-the-fly conferencing without "additional budget concerns"

Businesses with "road warriors" can also find advantage in VoIP phone systems for the ability to provide capabilities like hunting for call recipients at their desk or on their cell phone. Also, with one number capability, contacts can be reached at the same number regardless of which communication device they're using. For even more cost savings, some manufacturers even make it possible to switch calls from cell towers to a company's VoIP network.

To provide cost savings on complex equipment, companies can also choose a hosted PBX (News - Alert) phone system that takes care of inbound and outbound calls from a remote data center – removing the need to maintain complex equipment in-house that can become outdated, and leaving more room for staff and physical expansion if needed.

Cost savings can also be realized by hiring managers if a VoIP phone system is in place. Because VoIP phone systems make it possible for users to work remotely, more and more employees are requesting the ability to telecommute over raises and other compensation.

VendorGuru.com has done research on hundreds of phone systems and helps companies to determine which of the many available phone systems is right for their business.
