Open Source Recording Solution Focused on User Needs

For companies operating in certain industries, call recording is not just a good idea; it is a legal requirement. As a result, this is a necessary cost the organization must endure to ensure complete compliance in an attempt to satisfy customer service expectations. This cost is help to drive the demand for open source recording.

Orecx is one provider in this space, helping to drive adoption for open source recording. The provider is focused on delivering the solutions and features companies need to optimize their interactions with clients and recall any interaction necessary at later times.

With the Oreka TR, open source recording users can search, find and categorize recordings according to the time or date of the call, the incoming phone number, the outgoing phone number or other customer requirements.

The Oreka TR is a VoIP Ready platform that is designed to enhance the Oreka GPL recorder that runs on all computer operating systems and integrates easily with any phone system. Standard browsers can be used to access calls, including Internet Explorer and Mozilla (News - Alert) Firefox, and does not require the installation of any additional software.

In addition, calls can easily be replayed with a standard Media Player. Search criteria is both flexible and powerful to allow for immediate and accurate search and retrieval of required calls to satisfy demands. Criteria, when available, can include timestamp, recording duration, direction, remote party and local party.

Recording and storage are included as an important focus for open source recording, allowing users to record VoIP SIP. Users can passively listen to network packets and both sides of the conversation are mixed together. In addition, each call is logged as a separate audio file. Open source recording can take place from a standard sound device and users can record multiple channels at the same time. Each recording is then placed into a separate audio file.

This platform creates an optimal environment for open source recording as the open plugin architecture for audio capture ensures that the system is potentially capable of recording from any audio source. And, with automatic audio segmentation, continuous audio sources are split into separate audio files for easy retrieval later.

The Oreka TR also provides for voice activity detection, GSM6.10, A-Law and u-Law compression to save disk space, and the recording metadata is logged to file and/or any mainstream database system. This focus on open source recording ensures the business has what it needs to comply with internal and external regulations for all recording activities.
